As a former criminal defense lawyer Wendy has always a desire to help others experiencing difficult circumstances. However, after adopting four boys and increasing her family of four to eight, Wendy realized she could not serve both her clients and her children in the way they both deserved. So, in October of 2018 she retired her law practice to be a full time work-at-home mom. She now hosts the House of Fi podcast, where the mission is to inspire and encourage families of all shapes and demographics achieve financial independence. She and her co-host Timika strive to teach their listeners how to become debt free, build wealth, and increase incomes through entrepreneurship and side-hustles.
In this episode we talk about Wendy’s experience with foster adoption, the ups and emotional downs of adoptions, costs associated with adopting and ways to navigate the financial impact of adoptions.
